Our Story

Jessica & Adam

Our love story began in 2009, during college spring break, on the seas of a Carnival Cruise ship. We were each traveling with our good friends, and it just so happened on that huge ship, that our two travel parties were assigned the same dinner table. Our first dinner together was quite awkward, but oddly enough, our friends had an instant attraction to one another, and they began to spend a lot of time together. Our friend’s romance inadvertently pushed us into spending a lot of time together and provided ample opportunity to talk about life, eat frozen yogurt, and watch CNN. It was on this trip that our “first kiss” almost happened when Adam tried to plant a big smooch during a dance. During that trip, a friendship sparked, and at the end of the trip, we said our sad goodbyes never knowing if we would see each other again.

Miraculously, over the next year, through hours and hours of phone conversations, our friendship continued to grow.  It wasn’t until the following year that our romantic adventure began as we traveled throughout South America. Whether it was trekking through El Morado National Park, touring the vineyards in Mendoza, or eating ice cream in Buenos Aires, our friendship grew into something more.

Ten years later, the story continues, and we can’t wait for this exciting new chapter to begin!

EAT / DRINK / DO / SHOP

EAT

Louie Louie

3611 Walnut St
Philadelphia, PA

Louie Louie is a French-inspired American bistro in the heart of University City in Philadelphia. Colorful combinations of art nouveau mixed with a seventies vibe combine modern décor with the timelessness of a grand European cafe. The menu is inspired by French classical combinations of flavors using seasonal ingredients in a modern presentation complemented with colorful specialty cocktails, craft beer and matching wine list.

EAT

Jim's Steaks

400 South St
Philadelphia, PA

Since 1939, Jim’s Steaks has been serving what many believe to be Philadelphia’s finest cheesesteaks from the same 62nd Street location. While they’ve expanded beyond that single storefront, Jim’s has stayed close to their roots in producing a steak that not only attracts out-of-towners, but keeps the locals coming back in droves. Whether whiz wit or witout, liberty and freedom never tasted so good.

EAT

Vedge

1221 Locust St
Philadelphia, PA

The pioneering Vedge, set in a beautiful brownstone designed by Frank Furness, isn’t just a must-try vegan restaurant — it’s one of Philly’s best restaurants, period. Tofu and seitan play minor roles here; instead, the focus is on vegetables, treated with reverence and sophistication. If tables in the dining room are booked up, snag a seat at the front bar and order something off the list of natural wines.

Talula's Garden

Joni's

210 W. Washington Square
Philadelphia, PA

Born of Chester County’s famed Talula’s Table, this farm-to-table destination feels like the country — especially during warm months, when the planted courtyard is in bloom — right between city buildings and across the street from historic Washington Square. Dinner and Sunday brunch offer seasonal menus that star an extensive cheese selection.

EAT

Parc

227 S.18th Street
Philadelphia, PA

Diners may feel as though they’ve gone transatlantic while hanging out at Parc, a Parisian-inspired bistro from prolific and James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr. Perched at tables across from Rittenhouse Square, diners can take in views of the park’s ever-present foot traffic while supping on the restaurant’s crusty fresh breads, onion soup and mussels simmered in white wine, shallots and garlic.

EAT

The Love

32 Star Island Rd
Philadelphia, PA

Restaurateurs Aimee Olexy and Stephen Starr team up again — much to their fans’ delight — for this bilevel restaurant and bar. The American menu features fresh, seasonal food, as well as the most important ingredient: the love.
